My motorcycle road trip through the American West begins in the lush green forests of the Pacific Northwest. I then ride across the desolate expanse of Nevada’s Highway 50, known as the Loneliest Road in America, before testing my skills on the slick rock trails of Moab, Utah. The journey continues through Colorado’s breathtaking Million Dollar Highway, followed by the vast open plains of Wyoming. In Montana, I try my hand at cowboy life before concluding the adventure with the serene beauty of Idaho’s Lolo Pass.

Discovering the History and Beauty of the American Wild West
Exploring the Diversity of the Pacific Northwest
My adventure begins in the lush, evergreen forests of the Pacific Northwest. The Pacific winds accompany me as I ride along the scenic Oregon Coast Highway, where the road meets the roaring waves of the Pacific Ocean. I spend my nights under the stars of the Alvord Desert, enjoying the tranquility that only the Pacific Northwest can offer.
Riding The Loneliest Highway In America
I continue on Highway 50 in Nevada, famously known as the Loneliest Road in America. The solitude is profound, with only the occasional small town breaking the monotony of the desert. The emptiness of Highway 50 is both eerie and awe-inspiring, a reminder of the vastness of the American West.
Crashing Out On Moab's Slickrock Trail
Next, I head towards Moab, Utah, a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. The red rock formations and canyons create a surreal landscape, as if I’ve been transported to another planet. The slick rock trails here are legendary, offering a thrilling challenge that was almost too much for me to handle.
Unexpected Breakdown in Colorado
From Utah, I venture into Colorado, home to some of the most breathtaking mountain roads in the country. After lunch in Silverton, a quaint cowboy town that is a throwback to a bygone era, I head back up into the mountains, where an unexpected breakdown causes me to pause my ride until I am saved by a passing hiker.
Trying to Cross Wyoming Off-Road
Leaving the mountains behind, I ride into Wyoming, where the open plains stretch out endlessly under the big sky. The vastness of the landscape is humbling, with miles of open road inviting me to lose myself in the journey. The sense of freedom here is unparalleled, with the wind at my back and the horizon seemingly limitless.
The Best Motorcycle Road In America
My final leg takes me through Lolo Pass in Idaho, a scenic route that offers a fitting conclusion to my journey. The pass winds through dense forests and along rushing rivers, offering stunning vistas at every turn. As I descend back into Washington, my journey ends where it began, but the memories of the diverse and awe-inspiring landscapes I’ve traversed will stay with me forever.
